Selling Sustainability

Can green measures boost sales? asks The Retail Green Agenda: Sustainable Practices for Retailers by Rudolph E. Milian, a senior staff vice president of the International Council of Shopping Centers. This study of the environmental movement’s impact on the retail sector answers its own question with a resounding yes. Using the sustainable practices of Lowe’s, Target, Trader Joe’s, and other companies as case studies, the book examines how and why retail corporations and shopping center developers are adopting a more eco-friendly business model. It is quick to add, however, that in business, greening one’s vision doesn’t mean losing sight of the black. The book costs $34.95; $24.95 for ICSC members.
