NEW: CIRE's Writers and Readers
Who writes for Commercial Investment Real Estate? CIRE’s authors are a mix of industry professionals, experienced journalists, and award-winning staff writers. This combination helps to cover the vast spectrum of topics that appeal to the wide range of CCIMs and other real estate professionals who read CIRE regularly.
Veteran real estate journalist Matt Hudgins penned “Mixed-Use Matures,” the July/August cover story. A freelance writer based in Austin, Texas, Matt is a regular contributor to National Real Estate Investor and has written for CIRE on campus-related developments.
For this year’s Midyear Outlook CIRE turned to two industry professionals. In “Making Sense of the Market,” Anthony M. Graziano, CRE, FRICS, associate managing director of Integra Realty Resources coastal New Jersey office, drew from a survey of more than 700 Integra analysts to gauge the pulse of the current commercial real estate market. Many of them hold more than one of the following designations: CCIM, MAI, CRE, FRICS. Integra is the largest privately held commercial appraisal and consulting organization with 58 offices in the U.S. and Mexico.
Author of “Beyond the Obvious,” a midyear look at commercial real estate financing, Ryan Krauch is a principal with Mesa West Capital, a West Coast-based real estate finance company that provides flexible and reliable capital for value-added real estate projects. With a capital base of more than $1 billion, Mesa West Capital is a direct lender with institutional resources and a hands-on entrepreneurial approach.
CIRE is pleased to introduce Rich Rosfelder’s inaugural feature, “Rising Stars.” Rich is the magazine’s communications coordinator but he is no stranger to CIRE readers as he regularly writes the Buyers Guide and Deal Makers departments for every issue.
CIRE Associate Editor Stephanie Bell took a look at B and C office properties in the feature article “A+ Strategies.” Stephanie also writes CIRE’s Regional Outlook department and manages the Tech Solutions and Legal Briefs columns.
CIRE would like to thank all the CCIMs who participated in the issue through interviews and e-mail comments. Sharing your industry experience is what makes CIRE an award-winning publication. Commercial Investment Real Estate magazine recently was recognized with a general excellence award in the 2008 Annual Awards for Publication Excellence (APEX) competition, sponsored by Communications Concepts. Additionally, Managing Editor Sara Drummond won a feature writing award for her May/June 2007 article “New Rules for Retail,” while Senior Editor Jennifer Norbut was recognized with a best rewrites award for her editorial work on “Ripple Effect,” the March/April 2008 cover story.
What Readers Say
“The best article [in the July/August 2008 issue] -- ‘Making Sense of the Market.’ I usually don’t like these types of articles but the timing is really good for this and the author was right on with his analysis.”– Len Magnani, CCIM, Lee & Associates East Bay, Pleasanton, Calif.
“I thought ‘Mixed-Use Matures: Developers Sharpen Their Focus to Succeed in Small Markets’ was well-written. Having lived in a small market for six years, I understand how the dynamics are different. Tenants tend to be smaller, more local in nature, and rent sensitive. Good use of examples.” – Michael T. McLean, CCIM, Prudential California Realty, Palm Springs, Calif.
“I love the cover…the split page concept, the pictures, everything. This was a great cover! … The design and overall issue was the best I’ve seen in some time.” – James Helsel, CCIM, Helsel Inc. Realtors, Lemoyne, Pa.
