CCIM's Ready Resources

Things happen fast in today’s world and organizations often struggle to respond quickly. However, CCIM Institute has implemented an array of technology resources to provide members with the tools they need to respond quickly in this ever-evolving marketplace. If you haven’t already explored any of CCIM’s tech offerings, now is the time.

For example, in February, 350 industry professionals participated in “The Economy and Its Effect on Commercial Real Estate,” the first in a series of CCIM Webinars about the current economic crisis. Developed by the institute’s Robert L. Ward Center for Real Estate Studies, this presentation by Brian Beaulieu, lead economist and executive director of the Institute for Trend Research, provided short- and long-term economic forecasts and discussed economic indicators that CCIMs should monitor. The institute’s upcoming Webinars will address how CCIMs can work with lenders on distressed property and note acquisitions as well the benefits of cost-segregation studies. On another front, the institute is embracing social networking technology to promote the CCIM brand to a new generation of commercial real estate professionals. CCIM members can follow the institute on Twitter, visit the institute’s Facebook page to read posts from fellow CCIMs as well as staff members, and connect with colleagues on LinkedIn, a global network for business professionals.

For those who have never used these online platforms, this is an opportunity to explore their business and marketing uses. And you may be surprised by the number of familiar faces you encounter on these social networking sites. A search on LinkedIn reveals nearly 4,000 responses with a CCIM affiliation. Along with the institute’s Facebook page, several chapters and events have Facebook pages where users can access information and attendees. These sites offer another way to communicate with industry professionals, initiate conversations, and follow up on potential leads.

To learn more about the business benefits of social networking and other new technologies, attend CCIM & IREM Success Series 2009, October 16–17, in Honolulu. The institute’s premier networking event offers educational sessions and social events that address everything from thriving in a new economy to building global business opportunities. In addition, learn the secrets of Wal-Mart’s success from keynote speaker Don Soderquist, former chief operating officer of the retail powerhouse. CCIM is partnering with American Airlines to provide discounted airfares to Hawaii.
