The Not-an-iPad Tablet

Sony dives into the tablet fray with its Android-powered Tablet S. The angular design creates space for the heaviest components in the thickest part of the tablet, which makes the tablet feel lighter and more comfortable, according to Sony. The tablet has a built-in universal remote, which can control TV, DVD, and stereo settings for Sony and non-Sony devices from the tablet’s 9.4-inch screen. The WiFi-only Tablet S is available in 16-GB or 32-GB models and includes a full-size SD card reader and a 5 megapixel camera. The 16-GB model costs $499.99 and the 32-GB model costs $599.99.

Getting Dirty

New Dirt is an online preference-matching platform that allows brokers to market land sites to potential buyers. The platform uses a five-star ranking system to identify matches between brokers’ properties and prospective buyers’ interests. Brokers decide who receives their submissions, and buyers can compare sites. Only accredited real estate professionals with authorization from their companies can join. An annual subscription costs $400.

The app also gives users access to location-specific demographics, analytics such as leasing activity by property, and a list of contacts.
