Maui Commercial Real Estate Professional to Lead CCIM Institute in 2012
On Oct. 12 during the CCIM Live! conference in Phoenix, Leil Koch, CCIM, was inaugurated 2012 president of the CCIM Institute, an international commercial real estate organization with more than 15,000 members worldwide. The Institute confers the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation to qualified commercial real estate and allied professionals.
Koch is president and chief executive officer of Equity One Real Estate, which has offices in Lahaina, Pukalani, Makawao, and Paia, Hawaii. He will assume the presidency of the Institute on Jan. 1, 2012, and is the first CCIM national officer to hail from Hawaii. A 20-year commercial real estate veteran, Koch has held numerous national CCIM committee positions and in 2006 was voted the Hawaii Chapter’s CCIM of the Year. He also holds the CIPS (Certified International Property Specialist), CPM (Certified Property Manager), CRB (Certified Residential Broker), and MRICS (Member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) designations.
Since 1969, the Chicago-based CCIM Institute has conferred the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation to commercial real estate and allied professionals through an extensive curriculum of 200 classroom hours and professional experiential requirements. Currently, there are more than 9,000 CCIMs in 1,000 markets in the U.S. and 31 other countries. An additional 7,000 practitioners are pursuing the designation, making the institute the governing body of one of the largest commercial real estate networks in the world. An affiliate of the National Association of Realtors®, the CCIM Institute’s recognized curriculum, powerful technology tools, and networking programs impact and influence the way CCIM members do business.
