Aerotropolis Author Greg Lindsay to Share Insights at CCIM Live!

CCIM Institute’s fall conference boasts lineup of today’s most critical topics in real estate.

Commercial real estate professionals will convene at the historic Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix Oct. 12-14 for CCIM Live!, the CCIM Institute’s 2011 fall conference experience. Acclaimed author Greg Lindsay will speak to members about the concepts introduced in his new book Aerotropolis: The Way We’ll Live Next.

"Airports have become more than just a nuisance to be banished to the edges of cities; they are the engines of the global economy and are rapidly evolving into cities in their own right – what I call an ‘aerotropolis,’” says Lindsay, who co-authored the book with John D. Kasarda, director of the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise and Kenan Distinguished Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the University of North Carolina.

“There’s a huge opportunity for retrofitting the areas around American airports,” Lindsay says, citing the example of a 15 million square foot office and retail mixed-use development near Atlanta’s airport that replaced a former auto manufacturing plant. “There are plenty of opportunities to do the same in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and other cities.” The evolution of just-in-time delivery is a key driver of the Aerotropolis movement.
