As the largest and most comprehensive networking and educational event of its kind in the state, the 20th Anniversary Iowa Commercial Real Estate Expo, Sept. 27, attracted more than 40 exhibitors and speakers with more than 400 real estate professionals in attendance. Sponsored by the Iowa CCIM Chapter and the Iowa Commercial Real Estate Association, many CCIM leaders and designees attended this year's expo.

“The Iowa Commercial Real Estate Expo is one the best events I have attended in my three years of CCIM leadership,” says 2016 CCIM Institute President Steve Moreira, CCIM. “The level of cooperation and comradery throughout the entire Iowa commercial real estate community sets a very high bar for other states to emulate.”

According to incoming Iowa CCIM Chapter President Chris Bogenrief, CCIM, the most popular event this year was keynote speaker Kenneth Gronbach, president of KGC Direct LLC and an internationally respected demographer who forecasts commercial, economic, and political phenomena.

“Attendees were overwhelmingly impressed with the predictions made by Mr. Gronbach based upon on our demographics and trends,” Bogenrief says. “He really inspired us about how commercial real estate professionals will profit from the coming demographic storm of millennials as they reach their high-income discretionary age.”

Dr. Arthur Cox, director of the Center for Real Estate Education at the University of Northern Iowa, attended and brought 23 students to the Expo. Many of the students were paired with CCIM attendees as mentors for the day and were allowed to participate in all of the Expo sessions.

“The Expo allowed students the opportunity to rub elbows with professionals in the industry and to think about their own futures in commercial real estate,” Cox says. “With all the opportunities to network at the event for both students and industry professionals, this was an informative and rewarding experience for all involved.”

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Expo is the premiere event for Iowa professionals to network and learn about new cutting-edge technology and applications.

“The speakers were top notch and the breakout educational sessions were extremely informative.,” says 2016 CCIM Institute First Vice President David P. Wilson, CCIM. “It is an event I look forward to attending every year.”
