How do I change my information in the CCIM database?

To update your information in the database, go to www.ccim.com. Select "Member Login" located under "Member Services" to log in with your user name and password. your user name is your CCIM number or your candidate number (depending on your membership). Type that in the user name field; it is also your password unless you have changed your password with us in the past.  If you have mislaid your password instructions, contact us at 312-321-4460 or email membership@ccim.com. You will then go to a screen with your various options displayed. To update your information, click on "Update Profile"

In Member Record Maintenance, you will see your basic information along with hypertext links -- the (usually) blue, underlined text links. Click on the appropriate link to change information, make the change, then click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page. The system will then show you the information including the changes, and you will have the opportunity to post the information or to cancel the changes. Please note that it takes up to 24 hours after you make your database change before it will be "live" and visible on the Web for public searches.

One place you may have a question about is when you are in membership maintenance and you click on the Address hypertext link; you will see your addresses (usually HOME and BUSINESS, though some people have more than one business address); simply click on the address link you wish to update, and follow the same process from there as you would for any other changes. Follow the  Address link to change your company name; the database will pull the name from the company name field in the address that you have marked as being your primary address.

How do I look up a member in the database?

Access the CCIM membership database by clicking on the "Find a CCIM Professional" link on the CCIM home page, then fill in the desired fields of the form. (For the cleanest search, you should "cast a wide net"; try using just the last name or city of the person you are trying to locate. Keep in mind alternative forms of first names.) Please be patient while your search is in progress; to search the entire database can take around 45 seconds.

CCIM designees may indicate their primary specialization or up to four areas in which they have a high level of competence. In each of the following categories on the search page, select the options that most nearly describe the skills needed for your real estate project. Your request will search the database of more than 6,000 CCIM designees throughout the world to find those who most closely match your selection. You may also narrow the search by indicating specific geographic and market areas. The searches are not case sensitive (for example, whether you search for Roth, roTh, roth, or rOtH, you should get the same results). If you are a CCIM designee, these searches are multi-searchable.

You don't have to fill in every field. As a general rule when doing database searches, "cast a wide net" by putting in as few criteria as possible, especially the first time you attempt the search. For example, if you are looking for brokers in Chicago who specialize in hotels and work for a specific company, you might want to start off by just selecting "Illinois" in the state/province field and typing "Chicago" (no quotation marks, of course) in the city field, and then submitting the search. If you get too many results to check individually each one's page for their specializations, you may then want to refine your search by selecting an item in the specialization field.

Your search results: When your search is complete, the system will present to you those designees who most nearly meet your criteria. The results will be in one-line summaries; to get more information on the individual CCIMs, simply click on their last names, which are links to individual pages containing more information on themselves and their professional services, as well as links to their own company's Web site, if available
