Clifford Bogart is president and founder of The Vanguard Commercial Group, a commercial real estate firm specializing in local, statewide and national tenant representation.

Professional Background

Cliff is a twenty-six year veteran of the Houston, Dallas, and Austin commercial real estate markets. He began his real estate career in 1979 with The Vantage Companies in Houston, leasing both office and warehouse properties. In 1982 he joined Coldwell Banker Commercial (now CB Richard Ellis) as a broker engaging in tenant representation as well as representing landlords in leasing office buildings. Between 1982 and 1986, a difficult time for office leasing in Houston, Cliff marketed and leased over one million square feet of office buildings.

In 1986 Coldwell Banker relocated Cliff to Dallas as Leasing Director of the 800,000 square-foot Xerox Centre in Las Colinas. He then transferred to the Homart Development division where he was responsible for marketing and leasing the 600,000 square foot Phoenix Tower in Houston, as well as training company personnel in leasing skills.

Between 2002 and 2004 Cliff partnered The Vanguard Commercial Group with Scribcor Texas, LLC to pursue and successfully secure a contract as the first tenant representative for the entire State of Texas lease portfolio of approximately 1,200 leases encompassing over 11,000,000 square feet.

CCIM and Professional Affiliation Experience

Cliff received his CCIM designation in 1995.

Instructional Background

Over the years Cliff has trained new commercial brokers, leasing agents, and property managers in his management capacities at Coldwell Banker Commercial and Homart Development. In addition Cliff has written, and over the past four years taught, a course entitled Commercial Leasing: Tenant and Landlord Representation. He has taught other courses for Texas Real Estate Continuing Education including Lease Contracts, Legal Updates, and Ethics.

Teaching Philosophy

"Some people 'learn' by memorizing. I believe that you really haven't learned something until you can teach it to someone else. I strive to achieve a level of understanding, and cooperation, by my students such that they can teach their fellow student or explain key concepts to a co-worker when they get back to the office."

Education

Cliff is a 1976 graduate of Michigan State University with a BA in Business.

Personal Background and Interests

Cliff has been happily married for 27 years to Cheryl and they have four children in High School and College. He is an avid runner and all around health nut.
