Mark J. Polon, CCIM

Fairhope, AL
Prior to joining RIISnet, Polon served at the corporate level as Senior Executive Vice President for Prudential CRES a national CRE franchise system and as Vice President of Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate. Polon was President and founder of Polon Ventures, a commercial real estate brokerage and consulting firm specializing in investment sales and consulting, as well as the creation and delivery of real estate training programs. Polon has more than 25 years of experience in the purchase, management, appraisal, and sale of commercial real estate and personal property. Over his career, he has provided expertise and training to a distinguished list of clients including the United States Government, commercial banks, thrifts, savings and loans, for and not for profit corporations, and private individuals. Additionally, he has successfully trained over 10,000 real estate practitioners nationally and internationally.

Designation Curriculum

With an emphasis on practical application, CCIM’s designation curriculum represents the core knowledge expected of commercial real estate professionals, regardless of their specialization. It is suited for those who seek to propel their businesses and careers.

The designation curriculum includes these essential CCIM skill sets:

Ward Center for Real Estate Studies

Education doesn’t end with the CCIM designation. The webinars, workshops, and online courses available through the Ward Center teach commercial real estate professionals how to profit in a fast-changing industry. These educational offerings focus on current topics and trends in commercial real estate.

The center was created by and named for Robert L. Ward, CCIM, a senior instructor and past institute president. Ward has been instrumental in expanding CCIM Institute’s education program.

Flexible formats—including including classroom, online, and self-paced online learning—make it easy to find courses that fit your schedule.

  • Classroom – Learn in a traditional classroom environment. Interact and network with other students in a collaborative, small-group setting.
  • Online Instructor-led – These courses combine the flexibility of online education with live instructor and classmate interaction via the Internet. Online instructor-led courses have scheduled start and end dates and two virtual classroom sessions per week.
  • Executive – Combining the classroom and online instructor-led formats, executive courses consist of three classroom and four virtual online sessions.
  • Online Self-paced – Move through these courses at your own pace. Complete the course in one sitting or spread it out over the entire duration of the class.

The Education Foundation of the CCIM Institute

Cultural Diversity Education Program

Created with the goal of expanding diversity within the industry, the program encourages minorities in commercial real estate to pursue the CCIM designation.

Other Outreach

CCIM’s network of chapters also reach out to assist professionals in their communities by offering specialized seminars when circumstances, such as Hurricane Katrina and the 2010 Nashville flood, arise.
