Capitol Hill Visits
2010 Capitol Hill Visit Program — May 4 - 5, 2010
Ensure your chapter is represented at the annual CCIM and IREM Capitol Hill Visit Day! On May 5, 2010, CCIM Institute members will join with IREM to bring the issues that affect the commercial real estate industry to Capitol Hill. An Orientation will be held at the J.W. Marriott in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, May 4, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Legislative staff from the CCIM Institute, IREM, and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) will review the issues affecting the industry and what to expect when meeting with members of Congress.
The CCIM and IREM Capitol Hill Visits have a proven track-record of bringing change to the commercial real estate industry. Here are just a few of the results of CCIM and IREM’s lobbying efforts over the past few years:

- You received an extension to energy tax incentives — Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008
- You obtained an extension of the 15-year cost recovery period for leasehold improvements — Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008
- You are able to acquire terrorism insurance — The Terrorism Risk Insurance Revision Act of 2007
- You received significant tax cuts on capital gains — The Tax Increase Prevention and Reconciliation Act of 2005
